Went to the press viewing of Exodus – Gods and Kings a few days ago but been a busy bee with work, writing and hitting the gym that I haven’t had the time to post the review.
Personally, I thought it lived up pretty well to the original story, The prince of Egypt. It had the important details such as all the plagues and the marks of blood on the doors as a blessing / protection. It was raw, brutal and truly beautiful in many aspects, from the vision and scenery to the acting. Although, I did think it was a little too long for my taste, they could’ve, not skipped but made a few scenes shorter. And I was a little disappointed on when they crossed the water, I sat all excited and expecting Moses to split in half but nope. With today’s technology they could have done it. Just saying. Other than that, it was brilliant. Almost a masterpiece, an amazing film to end 2014 with.
If you are familiar with the prince of Egypt, then you are already familiar with the story, Exodus is a modern version with a lot of heart, soul and hard work. An amazing journey back in history. In other words, I enjoyed it, loved it actually. A well recommended movie to see on the big screen.
“The defiant leader Moses rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.” -IMDb
