Today I finished the second installment in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Ashes by Cassandra Clarke. And once again am I completely smitten by the beautiful creatures from fantasy world. Vampires, Werewolfs, Shadowhunters, Demons, Warlocks and more. There’s so much heart and soul to this serie that is impossible to put into words. I deeply enjoyed the second part, it was a real and true page turner, I’m looking foward to get my hands on the 3rd copy, but since I’m moving to London on the 25th I’ve packed and have literally no more space, so I’m going to buy it there instead, hopefully I’ll find a great bookstore.
Well, have you read the first one which is City of Bones then I strongly recommend you continue with this one, there’s more to come when it comes to all the beautiful characters involved and also some new faces and names.
What deeply frustrates me is the relationship between Jace and Clary, in the first one, they meet, fall in love basically, kiss and by the end of it, you find out they’re siblings seperated by birth, and in the sequal you can read and feel the tension between them, those two STILL have some sort of feelings for each other, but they’re siblings so that not only pisses them off but the reader as well. It’s so confusing, because you want them together but obviously that’s an incest, but they were seperated and don’t see each other as brother and sister, they don’t even know each other like that? GAH. Not cool. But it’s an amazing and wonderful story and I loved the actors they went with for the movie, the first movie was great, and I LOVED Lily Collins as Clary, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace, not often you’re actually happy about the actors who takes the role in the movie adaption of the book, but they nailed it here!
